I do most of my work sitting down; that's where I shine" - Robert Benchly
I am a learner. I enjoy learning about random tidbits, and I will lose sleep going down a rabbit hole on a topic that has no immediate impact on my life. Seeing how everything is connected helps me to make sense of things.
So, when I finished my 200HR YTT in 2022, I knew I wanted to learn more about the other forms of yoga, their school of thought and origins. However, yoga teacher trainings are NOT cheap, and in-person classes can be very time consuming. Plus, I had just finished a certification and wanted a program that would allow me to go at my own pace.
I received my Chair Yoga certification online from an app I downloaded - yes, it is Yoga Alliance approved. [Even though that doesn't mean anything to me - that is another post for another day]
Not too long after I finished the program, one of my friends reached out and asked if I would be interested in doing a Chair Yoga session at her job. I was SO EXCITED. I had just gotten certified and already the opportunity to do a Corporate Session had fallen into my lap -a sign that you never know WHO is watching you, but doing the work keeps you prepared for any and every opportunity that comes your way.
Now, at that time I was still a SUPER "POWER YOGI" by that I mean, that is all I wanted to teach - but I was NOT about to turn down an opportunity to not only teach, but to also get paid!
I did that session back in 2022, and to my own lack of marketing that was the only one I did that year, and the next. I was working at a small gym in Houston and was focusing on those classes and clientele.
Fastforward to 2024.
My best friend, and mother to two of my godchildren, is a therapist based in Atlanta. She approached me earlier this summer with an idea for us to collaborate. She hosts conferences, webinars and retreats quite often in addition to being a guest speaker at various events. She wanted to replace the mindfulness portion she does in the beginning of her sessions with yoga.
In August I flew to Atlanta to facilitate a Chair Yoga session for the Southern Center for Human Rights at their annual Staff Retreat located at the Barnsley Resort. It was confirmation that my intention for why I want to teach is being heard by the Most High, and things are coming to ME. I am doing the work to further my knowledge and skill set - I am currently taking another 200HR YYT with two amazing teachers - and being intentional with my practice.
The following week I was back in Houston facilitating another Chair Yoga session at my friend's job. After two years, they were still asking her when I was going to come back.
More confirmation.
I gifted each session with some aromatic therapy as well. Southern Center for Human Rights received Aum Yoga Scents RESTORE Candle with a matching scented 10ml essential oil rollerball. I gifted the Venture Capitalist in Houston with the RESET 10ml essential oil. That item is currently out of stock, but the RESET Candle is available.

ALL of that to say, I am available for Chair Yoga Sessions at your job, your church, your sorority/fraternity meeting, etc.
In addition - I am toying with the idea of doing a Winter Solstice Pop-Up - Slow Flow Edition. Detroit or Houston? What say you?
Until then, Meet Me on the Ma'at - or in the Chair.
